Four citizens arrested in protest against the US Nuclear Complex

Yesterday, Friday June 18 around 50 people gathered at the intersection of Bannister and Troost in Kansas City, MO to protest the insanity of building nuclear weapons. The Kansas City Plant provides 85% of the non-nuclear parts for the US government's nuclear weapons. The rallying cry was "Clean it! Close it! Don't repeat it!" referring to the current plan to build a new plant further south at Highway 150 and Botts Rd, as well as grievous signs of toxic contamination at the old plant and nearby urban and natural areas.
The march began at the intersection of Bannister and Troost and processed quietly east on Bannister to the gates of the Kansas City Plant. Once there, we boldly blocked the entrance to the plant with our bodies and proclaimed it to be shut down! We hammered wooden crosses into the ground to commemorate the KCP workers who have died from cancers related to toxic and radioactive exposures.
Four of our friends were arrested by Homeland Security for obstructing the plant's operations. The energy of the rally was high and hopeful that as our numbers swell we can make it clear to the City Council and to the US government that this plant and all nuclear weapons are dangerous, destructive and immoral.

If you have any questions or want some information on future rallies please call or e-mail the house.
